Hand-Crafted Gingerbread Latte In Your Home

Now that it’s December, we can stop talk about gingerbread, and peppermint and holly and … snow?

Today, I’m sharing with you my own recipe for Gingerbread Syrup, which is obviously a key ingredient in creating a Gingerbread Latte. Just heat the milk, pour it into your coffee with some homemade gingerbread syrup, then pile whipped cream on top… oh myyyyy. It’s the holidays, live a little!

We all know that I’m a huge fan of coffee, but I’ve gotten picky in my old age, about the quality of coffee that I drink. I like it to be … well, perfect. I HATE burned tasting drip coffee, or (worse) weak and pathetic brown water with a faint coffee scent. Folks, I like it hot, I like it strong and I like it to not cost me $5 for a cup.

Hi there, new coffeemaker

Bunn recently brought out their new Bunn HB Coffeemaker that to be honest, I was skeptical about.  I mean, there are dozens on the market, so what makes this one any different? I’m so glad you asked….

For one, it’s pretttttyyy and shiny and I like that. It has curved lines, and stainless steel accents. FANCYYYY.

Another? I think this is actually one of the best selling points, actually – but, the carafe doesn’t drip. I’m soooo over pouring coffee and having to clean my counters afterwards because of dripping. See the video below – it really works!

Finally, and this is THE most important bit: Excellent, professional quality brewed coffee (just like your favorites brewed in your local cafe or restaurant) … effortlessly made, right in your kitchen.

Homemade Gingerbread Latte

For the Gingerbread Syrup

  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 Tbs molasses
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

For making your Latte

  • 8 oz freshly brewed coffee
  • 8 oz milk warmed
  • whipped cream
  • pinch cinnamon optional

For the Gingerbread Syrup

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Heat, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Let simmer gently for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Strain the mix through cheesecloth.

Making your Latte

  1. Add 1 Tbs (or more, to taste) Gingerbread Syrup, and stir.
  2. Pour your freshly brewed coffee into your favorite mug or cup (make it a big one, this is good)
  3. Top with warmed milk or half n half.
  4. Finish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  5. Devour.
