Christy Freeman Stark was born into an artistic family, and from a very early age, heard the artist's life calling to her. A lesson, in college, on using tea to stain a canvas lead to a solution for a larger problem. "I wanted to create a very large painting of a tattoo inspired...roses and swallows and it was really huge...like a four foot by five foot painting, but the canvas was too white. I wanted that parchment look...as an avid coffee drinker, I decided one day just to throw coffee on the canvas and see if it would knock that white out, and it did."
