An old adage states, “The more things change, the more things stay the same.” In reflecting on the 175 years of the BUNN entrepreneurial history, one of the constants has been an unwavering passion for quality. In celebration of this milestone and in anticipation for the launch of new products in the coming months, we felt it was time for an update to the brand identity that better reflects who we are today, without forgetting what we are founded upon.
It’s in our DNA to relentlessly pursue quality in the cup. So our new logo will evoke that by now including a circular icon that represents the cup. The cup is also our connection to the world. It includes delivering the best beverage for every occasion, and is as important as using our success to make the world a better place for our customers and our families.
Additionally, transforming water is an integral part of all we do. Water completes our cup and is the conduit that connects us to our customers and everyone who enjoys a beverage from our equipment. The new icon centrally features Blue Pantone 300 in the triangular alchemic symbol for water. Blue also symbolizes Dependability, Strength, and Trust. This is why you will often still see our Brand Promise, A Partner You Can Count On, because we work hard to earn and keep customer trust through our strength and dependability. One way we do this is by continually seeking the horizon of innovation which is signified by our traditional red line moving below the BUNN trademark.
We are a heritage brand built on a long tradition of quality that started well before the beverage division was founded in the late 1950’s, and this is represented by a modified version of our traditional red line wrapping around the centered Brand Slogan, Quality Since 1840.
This evolution of our brand identity is completed by replacing the former font that represents the BUNN brand name with the new modern feel of the Clonoid font, showing our commitment to the needs of our customers today and anticipating the trends of tomorrow.
1. Why did we develop a new logo?
When you do business with BUNN, you can be assured we are a group who is committed to serving the needs of our customers. Soon you will see new equipment that responds to the trends of today’s market with a fresh brand language that we have spent months developing with customers. As part of this development process, we felt it was time to also present a fresh look to our brand identity that matches the modernized look of these new products.
2. What is the new font and what does it reflect?
The BUNN brand name will now be represented by the Clonoid font. It reflects a progressive, modern and futuristic perspective. Elements of the font have the same feel as the brand language you will see in our new equipment – rounded corners with pill-shaped touch points yet durable, recognizable construction.
3. What does the circular icon represent?
A new circular icon will sometimes be used with the BUNN brand name. It is also likely that you will see the icon as a stand-alone brand identifier, especially in digital space. We are passionate about quality in the cup, regardless of the beverage and occasion. So we are moving to use of a circular icon that represents that cup. The cup is our connection to the world. It includes delivering the best beverage for every occasion, and is as important as using our success to make the world a better place for our customers and our families.
4. What does the blue triangle represent?
Transforming water is an integral part of all we do. Water completes our cup and connects us to our customers and end users. Water is officially represented by a triangular alchemic symbol. Blue Pantone 300 will be a prominent color for our brand and is centrally represented in the new triangular symbol within the circular icon.
5. What does the color blue represent?
The color blue also symbolizes Dependability, Strength, and Trust. This is why you will often still see our Brand Promise, A Partner You Can Count On, because we work hard to earn and keep customer trust through our strength and dependability.
6. Are we still using the red line?
The color red and the red line will still be a recognizable part of our brand identity. One way we keep customer trust is to continually seek the horizon for useful innovation and to anticipate the trends of tomorrow for our customers. This is signified by a modified, thinner version of our traditional red line moving below the BUNN trademark. The color will now be Red Pantone 7620 for more consistent print quality than the previously used Red Pantone 185.
7. What do we mean when we say “Quality Since 1840”?
The new Brand Slogan, Quality Since 1840, will now be centered and wrapped by a modified version of our traditional red line below the BUNN Brand Name. This replaces our previous Brand Slogan, “Quality Beverage Equipment Worldwide”. We are proud to be a heritage brand built on a long tradition of quality that started well before the beverage division was founded in the late 1950’s. The evolution at Bunn-O-Matic Corporation can trace its foundation to 175 years ago when Jacob Bunn opened his grocery store in a developing Springfield, IL USA, and a young Abe Lincoln was one of his first customers.
That venture grew into Bunn Capitol Wholesale Grocery Company and was later managed by George R. Bunn who founded the beverage equipment division. Bunn-O-Matic Corporation was officially incorporated as a separate entity in 1963, and since that time has been at the forefront of dispensed beverage equipment manufacturers.
The company remains privately-held and family-owned through five generations of Bunn family entrepreneurship. It has evolved from a foodservice and coffee focus to include a long list of equipment innovations in all dispensed beverages. Now often referred to simply as “BUNN,” the company has become a global partner you can count on for profitability, reliability and support wherever customers are served.
